After the few days of hearing that Facebook will change the format of Timeline, Mashable has just announced that Facebook Timeline change is rolled out which begin in New Zealand appears to be in effect (though no confirmation from Facebook).
Take a look at the new layout:
I noticed that the boxes at the right-hand column have been rearranged on the picture. According to the Kiwis which contacted by Mashable, it is the result of the new feature. While the previous feature let you choose to hide them altogether.
At the moment, this is only impacting personal Timelines. Facebook tends to apply the same format for personal and brand Timelines. So I was thinking how this might impact brands.
In the old format, brands took effort to build custom content in the form of apps including contests, product offers, opt-in, and so on.
Marketers and brands now have mixed feelings to this change. Consequently, I believe Facebook wants brands to succeed. We will just watch out the final implementation of Facebook so we can know how we are going to react on this.
What’s your take on this? Does this change your Facebook marketing strategy? I would love to hear your comments.
